The City Hall and Courthouse facility has approximately 680,000 gross square feet and is home to about 1,200 City of Minneapolis and Hennepin County employees from almost 40 different departments. City functions within the building include: Mayor's Office, Council Offices, Council Chambers, City Coordinator, City Clerk, Finance, Police, Fire, Public Works, Planning, Minneapolis Emergency Communications Center and a number of other City activities and boards. County functions within the building include Sheriff's Administration, the Adult Detention Center jail facility on the 4th and 5th Floors of the building  as well as several other Sheriff's Office functions.
