| Dear City Hall/Courthouse Tenants,
Welcome to the City Hall/Courthouse Building. The Municipal Building Commission (MBC) staff looks forward to serving your tenant needs. The Municipal Building Commission is a joint City of Minneapolis and Hennepin County funded agency that was established by Minnesota State Statute in 1903.
The City Hall/Courthouse facility has approximately 680,000 gross square feet. There are many critical operations in the building and they include the Mayor’s Office, City Council Offices, Minneapolis Emergency Communications Center (911), Police, Fire, Courtrooms, the Sheriff Office and a 509 bed jail facility, (Adult Detention Center).
The MBC website version of the Tenant Handbook has been developed as a resource for all City Hall/Courthouse tenants and should answer many of your questions about building regulations, policies, and operating procedures. We have provided MBC personnel names and phone numbers and emergency contact telephone information as well.
MBC staff are proud to provide high quality service and responsive attention to our building tenant needs. As you review this electronic Tenant Handbook, please let us know what information is especially helpful and/or if there is additional information that you would like to see included.
Please consider adding this electronic Tenant Handbook to your “favorites” as a convenient way of finding tenant information when you need it. The MBC plans to update information as policy changes occur and will distribute the updates to you electronically.
Sincerely,
Jose’ Cervantes Director, Municipal Building Commission
