1984
The fifth-floor jail undergoes major expansion, for $4.5 million.

1987
Confetti clogging the rain gutters after the World Series tickertape parade is removed for $2,500.

1989
Eleven thousand square feet of sub-basement is remodeled for the Emergency Communications Center, for $2.8 million.

A statue of Hubert H. Humphrey by nationally known sculptor Rodger Brodin is placed in the middle of the Fifth Street side.
