A copper roof weighing 180,000 pounds is installed in place of the original Spanish tile.

1954
New courtrooms are created in unused space on the fifth floor, facing Fourth Street and Fourth Avenue, for $19,000, and the tower clock is rebuilt by I. T. Verdin Company.

1956
The city council chamber and offices are remodeled for the second time, this time to the plans of Bertil Fasth.

1957
The Municipal Building Commission explores the possibility of installing escalators in the rotunda.

1959-1960
The City Hall and Courthouse is sandblasted and tuck-pointed.
