June 2007 Peregrine Chick Banding
Alejandro
The Minneapolis City Hall and Hennepin County Courthouse peregrine falcons are proud parents again this year!  The addition of Alejandro makes eight chicks produced from this site.

Experts from the University of Minnesota Raptor Center and the National Audubon Society were here to band our latest addition on June 4th in the Rotunda and he was quite vocal in his disapproval of the entire process.

This year is the 20th anniversary of the first wild produced chick since recovery efforts began in the Midwest.  This particular Peregrine pair has nested in the 5th Street Tower successfully for the past three years and is a Midwest Peregrine Falcon Restoration project success story.  The Midwest area is currently above historic carrying capacity with over 210 nesting pairs.  The Peregrine Falcon has been off of the endangered list for over 6 years
